The Gospel of Mark

There are many reasons to study the Gospel of Mark. It is an introduction to discipleship. Mark was the first gospel to be written, and therefore in Mark we have a new literary type. Mark was the first to take the reports of Jesus and put them in the form of a life story. Mark is not a biography in the Western sense, but is more like a tract written to the Gentiles explaining exactly who Jesus of Nazareth was. The genius of Mark is seen in the way he collected the episodes from Jesus life and arranged them in his gospel to tell the full story. This is truly a life-changing gospel.
