The topic of the Holy Spirit has been a much-discussed, much-debated, and much-misunderstood topic for many years. Unfortunately, the controversial approach to studying the Holy Spirit has led to more heat than light, more arguments than answers. Also unfortunate is the charge that those of us who are not charismatic in convictions “don’t believe in the Holy Spirit.” That charge, of course, is untrue.
However, when we approach the study of the Spirit from the negative (i.e. what he does not do), we run the risk of appearing not to believe in the Spirit, and we may well lose a proper focus on the tremendous promises of help from the Spirit which the Word of God gives us.
Therefore, the purpose of this study series is to clarify misconceptions in order to promote correct concepts regarding the nature and work of the Holy Spirit.
