What a difference a day makes. On Monday, Sept. 10, people thought that they were secure. On Tuesday, Sept. 11, they learned better. On Monday people argued with their kids about picking up their rooms. On Tuesday the same people could not get home fast enough to hug them. On Monday people were upset that their dry cleaning was not ready on time. On Tuesday they were lining up to give blood for the dying. On Monday we e-mailed jokes. On Tuesday nothing was funny. On Monday the president went to Florida to read to children. On Tuesday he returned to Washington to protect them from evil.
